Injection ports allow the safe injection of a liquid culture or spores into the sterile environment of grain or substrate. The needle pierces the port, usually rubber or silicone, tearing a channel through it. 
 
The needle keeps the channel open and creates a perfect seal around itself. Once finished injecting, the needle is withdrawn, and the elastic nature of the material means the channel closes up as it withdraws. This is why injection ports are known as self-healing.
 
Grow bags with injection ports are expensive, sometimes even double for that little bit of rubber. Using these you can make up your own spawn bags quickly and easily.

This is a really simple way to use your Self-healing Injection Port on a bag, without too much fuss and works a charm:
1. Peel the injection port from the backing
2. Locate the appropriate position to stick it (usually the upper part of the lower quarter of the bag)
3. Stick the port INSIDE the bag (yes) and that's it!
